21st Century Ideas: Why did the year go down?

Last night the survival horizon was 2058 and now it's 2044, what happened?

I'm confused about how it could take such a drastic dive overnight. Is something going on that I don't know about?

It happened during the day today- it went from 02066 to 02044 sometime this afternoon. I also would like to know why.

I wonder if it has to do with the ratio of players to collective score?

The Keeping Score page explains: http://superstructgame.org/s/KeepingScore Originally the survival horizon increased for every collective 100 points. Now it\\\'s every collective 1000 points. The survival horizon has been recalculated using this measure, obviously. Now _why_ the change in the scorekeeping algorithm, I don\\\'t know. I would assume it has to do with statistics. But it would be interesting to see some comment from the game designers about this.

    I found it really discouraging.

Speaking as a game designer, I suspect it is a matter of game balance. Setting it up with an arbitrary number to advance the year only makes sense if you know approximately how many players you are going to have. They should probably have scaled it, each year advancement requiring a larger number than the previous one.

GEAS released an explanation yesterday for the alteration: http://superstructgame.net/StoryView/66

Yah and when they bring out a new antidepressant next month the year of human extinction goes up to 2075 again.

I raved - but mostly for Rudd's comment. Forgive me.
