21st Century Ideas: Fighting the Firefront

How many good ideas have been left lying in yesterday's ashes?

The fires of the now are compelling. Yet the firefront of discussions often move on, leaving the old notions smouldering in their wake. The torrent of flaming bright new ideas is always as distracting as the glittery paper on the next christmas present. Like the velveteen rabbit, however, it doesn't mean that the old ideas you've discarded are less real.

There are a few superstructs attempting to tackle this issue. The superstruct wiki, and the greentrees being a couple of examples. However, I think that they are also subject to the problem of the firefront

Heartbeat: list entries in order of their last update, so that beating structs remain live. This is the same thing that RSS feeds can provide.

Maybe someone should create a visual matrix representation of discussion posts? It could link users who don't necessarily interact originally in a thread but who have participated in similar memes. For example, the more that a person wants to talk about solving energy problems, the more they see others with similar goals linking to the same places. This could be a great way for people to create effective teams for real-life projects. Also, it would create a manageable archive to preserve older ideas which could be flipped through almost as easily as a scrapbook. You could even go further and visually see what peoples real-life fields are, in order to find those with the skill sets a particular project might require.
