21st Century Ideas: Drivers of the Superthreats

The superthreats are real, but they are symptoms. What can we do to go after the causes?

GEAS's Superthreats are the acute symptoms of deeper issues, which, in order for for their to be real solutions, must also be addressed. I think was GEAS is doing is necessary and by educating the public and focusing the efforts of motivated individuals on addressing these issues definitely provides help where it is most needed. There are millions affected and those of who are involved must attach ourselves to the issues that our skills and interests demand. Perhaps the larger issues are things that would difficult to focus the efforts and stir public awareness. I see these larger issues as drivers for the threats. These include Climate Change having an influence and driving elements of nearly every Superthreat. War driving GenExile, Outlaw, Quarantine, and Ravenous. Economic Issues again driving various elements of all of the Superthreats. Ultimately addressing the Superthreats and building superstructures for them will have to address the drivers or causes of them, or there success may be limited, or on too small a scope to provide the necessary change. The Superstruct that we should be figuring our how to come up with way thoughts or ideas that motivate and direct the participation. It is ideas and idealogies that we need to stabilize culture emerging out of these troubled time. This brings up some questions for me. How does this fit with what we are doing here?

Fundamentally, "going after" causes first requires identifying what causes individual superthreats the complexity of this task cannot be over estimated, indeed the superthreats themselves can be viewed as causing or at least contributing to each other, i.e gen. ex. leading to displaced populations that are more susceptible to REDs(quarantine) and food shartages(ravenous). Focus on individual survival must be considered an initial goal of any superstruct this project proposes. Once indivduals have their survival prospects reinforced they will have greater will and ability to work toward the larger goal of establishing structures capable of neutralizing the current superthreats and forestalling others that may appear in the future.

I think there are a lot of noble thoughts here on Superstruct, but also some fatal misconceptions. Most importantly, the problems are structural and imbedded in the social structures we have already created. Also, they are clearly defined by political science and already being worked with in existing structures like the UN, NGO circles and transnational organizations. Example 1: Power Struggle should be translated transnational armed conflict. The primary source of the problem is strategic distribution of weaponry. Read: Government controlled arms deals. Purpose: To reinforce neo-colonialism, securing the Western supremacy on wealth, military and infrastructure through strategic destabilization of development regions. Solution: Stop arms trade. This leads directly to Ravenous, which should be translated hunger and global food crisis, and to Generation Exile, which should be translated Displacement. Again, a primary source of both is armed conflict and deteriorating infrastructure/corrupt government as a by-product of unrest. Other sources are natural disasters including hurricanes and drouts, some of which are rooted in ecological disruption.

That these crises have been separated along arbitrary lines is a tidy graphic that can be used to depict how we tend to misconceive all dis-ease. that is to say we have a tendency to compartmentalize into subsections that which is always part of the whole. More esoterically, then, whenever a part of the whole is with dis-ease, then whole is affected. Anyone's who's ever had an ingrown toenail will attest to this. Answers don't necessarily lie within defining the symptoms - but in taking into consideration the whole as its sum of parts, indivisible - with an eye towards how everything inter-relates.

In my world view - there are three underlying causes to all five problems (a) the capitalist system of unrestrained growth has leveraged hidden costs on the planets ecosystems that will be with us for centuries; (b) humanity will always breed until it crowds a habitat so extensively it causes wars and famines; (c) we could have continued living comfortably, economic growth and all, if we had unlimited sources of energy. We do not. the only potential unlimited source of energy, with current scientific understanding is either a working variant of fusion (tokamak, cold or bussard, take your pick), or orbitally generated solar. The latter is clearly unaffordable in 2019 (it wasn't in 1970) and fusion might be decades off. In my understanding, without unlimited sources of energy and with oil becoming depleted - about 1-4 billion people in this world will have to die, one way or another.

No two ways about it, the Quarentine threat is caused by improper use of antibiotics and overpopulation. If you have the common cold, antibiotics will do NOTHING for you. When a doctor gives antibiotics to people suffering from viruses, all they do is help to make superbacterias, which will, in time, be resitant to the anitbiotics. I do agree with another comment made about Capitalistic greed. If pharma companies weren't pushing antibiotics so hard on doctors, maybe we wouldn't have that problem.
