Spam rebellion

Could interruption of the supply of canned meat spark a revolution in Hawaii?

Nobody gets between Hawaiians and their favourite food. But it seems the U.S. military didn't get the memo...

You are getting no sympathy from me. Over here most of Europe is taxing animal meat into oblivion. They serve that spam stuff on toast now at exclusive parties.

Interesting. We received some MRE\\\'s and many of them used v-meat which kinda looked like spam. Couldn\\\'t Hawaii set up it\\\'s own meat-growing labs?

Good point about Europe, but it's my observation that very rarely does a person comparing their own situation to a worse one in another country actually causes them to value sincerely what they have. The more salient comparison is "my deprived state right now" to "my more contented state last week". And I've never seen anyone happily accept a staple transforming into a luxury. Longer-term, yeah, v-meat's an option. But that's not the point. Spam is a symbol -- you could replace it with a synthetic substitute (that would almost certainly be more nutritious and better tasting) but the sudden endangering of a favourite brand... that gets folks riled.
