Gypsy Farms in Action

50 people boogie like mad
Fangotang

Kwan and his family lives with us. Kwan speaks fluent Korean and a smattering of Chinese, Japanese, French and Italian.  It was his idea to invite some of the refugees from the storms in Asia to our small farm in Oregon. Groups of homeless immigrants had already landed by the thousands in California. THrough connections online, we were able to invite and bring six familyies to our place. W

We are lucky to have a couple of acres where we can set up tents and still have space to cultivate food. The families who arrived with little else but the clothes on their back now help us increase production of food on our farms and help neighboring farms as well. We have built two homes so far for twoof the families.

There is far too much to do every single day, but 100 hands make it easier. We stretch our food father, but every single individual contributes everything to make this work better. I'

Every night, we have music and dance in the fstarlight and firelight. It seems that dancing and laughing together is what gives us all the spiritual fuel to continue the work of this Gypsy Farm.

I think this will be one of the keys to survival, creating a group of people who all work together for the good of the group. It takes a special mix of people to do this.

We are farming too in central Kentucky near the Ohio River. It runs cleaner now that coal power plants have shut down. We raise formerly expensively bred alpacas that used to be bred for their fiber but now are bred for fiber until they are 4, then they become paca-patties. We train horses (ex racehorses from the thoroughbred farms that used to surround us) for transport. We fish some and garden during good weather. Our communications can be spotty - but I have a small band of fellow ponyXpressers, who ride with news from region to region.

the earth is amazingly productive when enough people are brought to the task. With enough cultivation it can give amazing results. This collaboration is the answer there is no luxury of isolation.
