    We need all kinds.  You don't have to be Catholic to collaborate with the Church, but we're happy to receive new Catholics, of course.
  • How to join

    Mission: Love God with your whole being and love others as you love yourself.  If we do these things, we'll be able to handle all the superthreats.

    Note: Please be aware that this game superstructure is in no real way associated with the real Catholic Church except that the creator is Catholic. 

    Please be honest.  If you have an axe to grind with the Church, please don't apply.  We won't test you, but we ask for common decency and integrity on your part.

    After 2000 years of experience and seeing civilization through dark ages, vast plagues, and pretty much every form of government known to man, we'd be silly to ignore this superstructure or think it needs reinventing.  The Church is committed to helping in all of these areas as it has before in creating and sustaining hospitals, universities, communities of common life, and working with governments across the globe in the interests of humanity while continuing to care for our spiritual needs.  The Church will also lead collaboration with other religious and civic institutions toward these ends as well.  We did it before without all our fancy technology; we can do it again with it.

    • Sustained by our faith, we can face all the challenges of the future.
  • How this superstruct works

    • I would suggest the following:

      * Communities of Common Life - This is a proven way to address societal instability and food supply.  Establishing local communities for both those forced into exile and those who chose it can provide stability while the governments are in flux or insufficient.  They can farm the land for the community itself as well as local communities outside of it.  The can also serve as way to locally organize other humanitarian efforts.  Get rid of the selfishness.

      * Universities - These are a proven way to foster learning and seeking out new solutions to problems.  Over the years, they changed--more concerned and bogged down with accreditation and certification by and large than true knowledge seeking--but nothing says that they can\\\'t be founded anew to seek out new ways to address the current crises.  Get rid of the pride.

      * Hospitals - Again, these have become bogged down in so much red tape.  The fundamental idea of the original hospitals were to provide hospitality to travelers and to treat the sick pro bono. We can return to address the vast majority of common medical needs.  Get rid of the greed.

      * Diplomacy - Being international and apolitical, the Church can and does represent the interests of humanity at large and not particular national/cultural interests.  As such she can function well in diplomacy, especially that geared toward the global common good. Get rid of institutionalized selfishness.

      * Parishes (and other local places of worship) - Even at our apex of technological affluence, most people still considered themselves as religious or spiritual to some extent.  Now in these times of crisis, ever more people are turning to their faith and local faith communities for real human, social, and spiritual sustenance.  Get rid of delusions of independence.

      We don\'t need to reinvent the Church to address future problems.  We just need to reform, adapt, and encourage people to see beyond themselves.
