Starting a superstructure is only the beginning. The real task is envisioning what it can do, how it will work, and who you need to work with. If you're not a member, consider joining now. If you are a member, be bold, jump in, and use the superstructure to start organizing for survival. Edit it, add to the vision, and make it real, online and off. And don't forget to rave.

  • Who We Need

Anybody who wants to learn to live primitively, or jsut learn primitive skills.

The rule of primitive living is that people didn't survive, tribes did. The more people we have, the easier it will be to support everyone.

  • How to join
  • Mission

We tend to think of the end of civilization as the end of the world. That isn't neccessarily so. so called "primitive" cultures lived in harmony with their environment, potentially for hundreds of thousands of years, without most of what we take for granted.

Basically, survival is Shelter, Fire, Food and Water. (you may not even need the fire in the right climates). Anything else is a luxury. If we can accept that, and re-learn how to provide that for ourselves using the lowest tech methods possible, we can look at everything else we've created and adapt it or discard it as needed to survive and live sustainably.

Did you know that hunter-gatherers worked, on average, two hours a day? And that they found their tasks so enjoyable, they didn't even consider it work, but play that provided their necessities? Did you know that the amazon rainforest was planted and tended by nomadic tribes over thousands of years?

This isn't a theoretical discussion. People today are choosing to learn to live primitively, both for ecological reasons and for their personal survival. These people are adapting the tribal lifestyles of aborigional cultures to the modern landscape.

Is the place to get together and talk with them.

  • What we can accomplish
    • We can teach people primitive skills so they can be better prepared to live on less.

We can examine how the unwritten assumptions of civilization have gotten us to where we are, and talk about changing those assumptions.

We can learn and share the knowledge, that civilization is not humanity, and in fact it is a short blip on the end of human history.

  • How this superstruct works
    • Currently, rewild camps are help every so often at various locations, and people get a basic education in primitive skills. A lot of other information is traded online through rewild.info and various blogs such as Urban scout or Anthropik. There are also many other primitive skill camps, such as Tom Brown\'s tracker school and the teaching drum.

Once you\'ve started to learn the technical skills of living primitively, you should also focus on the most important thing, building your tribe. You are going to need friends and family in order to live primitively. So start to tech your friends the same skills, and practice together.

It is possible to live this way, today.  The tribe of Anthropik has lived on their property bordering the Allegany national forest for nearly 5 years now, occasionally coming to town to get on the internet to tell us how they are doing.

  • Other information
    • http://rewild.info/  is a great resource for rewilders to share

http://anthropik.com/ The tribe rarely posts these days (because they are living it, natch). But their Thirty Thesis is still online and basically outlines the why people shoulc go primitive. Great if you like well supported, researched information. http://anthropik.com/thirty/

http://www.urbanscout.org/ gets credit for inventing the word rewilding, and is the closest thing we have to a rewilding celebrity. He runs most of the portland area stuff as well.

Book wise, I suggest reading Ismael by Daniel Quinn, and basically anything by Derrick Jensen or Tom Brown.
