Starting a superstructure is only the beginning. The real task is envisioning what it can do, how it will work, and who you need to work with. If you're not a member, consider joining now. If you are a member, be bold, jump in, and use the superstructure to start organizing for survival. Edit it, add to the vision, and make it real, online and off. And don't forget to rave.

    • Wow, we did a great job turing out the vote in 2008 in the U.S. -- but we're still falling short of our goals to achieve 80% participation in the democratic process. Perhaps we could use this historic-looking superstructure to also brainstorm some democratic superstructures. What I think is missing from the democratic process is FEEDBACK. How can I get feedback on how MY voting choices have influenced policy and the world? Perhaps a website where I can log how I voted (a private, anonymous account of course -- although in today's Outlaw Planet climes that's no real guarantee... but if it could be accomplished)... and get weekly reports of how people I voted for or propositions I voted for are doing and get badges for my website and blog and social network profile that show off things like "The person I voted for helped pass Bill XYZ!" -- POSTED BY AVANTGAME

    • I love the idea of something like an RSS feed tracking the votes and policy proposals of every politician I voted for. (Or the ones that represent me without my vote, for that matter:)) And then I want a functionality that predicts the effect of their votes on the issues I care about, with commentary from experts. Issues are so complex and intertwined. Less dependence on oil sounds good, but what if the trade off is pollution from agriculture fixated on producing biofuels? Solar energy is inexhaustible, but what is the waste stream from producing solar panels? Hydroelectric is clean, but which rivers are being dammed, and which ecosystems disrupted? How can we marshall a community of experts in all fields--economics, ecology, political theorgy, sociology, to help us interpret the likely effects of any given piece of legislation, and project the effects of our representatives' votes onto the future? --Posted by Elizabeth Merritt

I'm a bit of an interloper here since I am not a US citizen and so did not vore in your elections in 2008.  In fact I've never even been to the US, BUT I think I can offer some inspiration for you.  20 years ago I was living in the UK and a group of volunteers set up They Work For You.com.  This was simply a website that informed UK citizens of the voting records etc. of the Parliamentary Members representing them.  At first it was very strongly resisted by the UK Parliament, but eventually they ended up supporting it as a crucial part of the democratic process.  It's still running to this day and provides a very important role of oversight and feedback.  Here's to "I voted in 2008!" taking it one step further ~ DarkOptimism, 06 Nov 2019

    • It seems that voters would benefit from having explicit feedback on votes that didn't work out so well. Perhaps we should have a special democratic Catalog of Feedback Failures How to make better decisions?http://superstructgame.net/SuperstructView/467  -- POSTED BY AVANTGAME (link fixed by IneffaBelle)
