    • We are trying to determine if desert living is a sustainable alternative to city living.  We are planning a community in the New Mexico desert which obtains its own water (through a system of cisterns from monsoon rains in particular) and electricity (solar panels on all roofs and south-facing walls - the cheap rollup type, until we are certain this is going to work).
  • How this superstruct works
    • Start talking!  What kinds of water and electricity management plans will work best for the area?along with "terrafoming Earth" superstructure we construct communities that take energy from the high radiance of the sun, the communities in the dessert will have no problems with electricity, the communities that "terraforming Earth" builds have their own specialized green house with space technology that creates a perfect small scale environment for food to grow. If the inhabitants of such communities want to eat more that just vegetables, they'll have to develop a special farm which we can provide, but with limited growth potential because of the economic costs that could affect the communities. The communities will learn to be nocturnal, they will have enough light because of the solar energy taken throughout the day. Any other suggestions should answer to the questions: How will we grow food (remember, our aim is to create a sustainable community)?  Will that food be limited to plants?  Or is it worth it to keep animals for meat and dairy products?  How do we deal with desert temperatures?  Do we go nocturnal (I'm serious! - if you can't take the heat, get out of the oven!!)?  What other considerations are there?
