    • Meat prices rose of 500%, due to the highest costs of fodder and energy in history, and cattle rearing seems more and more unaffordable, both economically and ecologically.  As a result, protein deficiency became extensively epidemic in the world.

      One of the few reasonable solutions is producing insects for food at industrial level! Companies already exist that rear and sell insect for biological control: predators and parasites, insects that kill pests. Why can’t we rear insects for food? Insects area a great source of proteins, good fats and carbos, plus vitamins and minerals. They are currently eaten in some world regions, mainly Far East. They can be reared at low cost and with high productivity. Sure, not everybody in the world is willing to eat insects “as they are”, so insect-based food can be produced, from bread to bars: it is enough to make powder out o f it.

      Insect4food superstruct must create a global organization that develops insect rearing, and insects-based food production and selling at international level.  Production facilities are needed all over the world and a whole range of food products has to be marketed.

      The Insect4food organization can be a company, a group of company, a NGO, a network, whatever. But it must be industrial, global, modern and reach its objective: feed the world with insects.

       

      I would expand the focus to the Phylum Athropoda, which includes crustaceans. Crayfish, etc...

  • How this superstruct works

    • We need to create a multidisciplinary team with different and complementary competences. We need financial experts to find the economic resources for investment in insects4food factories. We need technicians who know how to raise insects and how to process them into food products. We need managers to run the organization. We need sociologists, nutritionists and marketing expert to convince the population to eat insects-based food. Finally, we need anybody who can help.
